In the early 1900s, businessman and philanthropist Julius Rosenwald used his wealth to build more than 5,000 schools to help African-Americans in the South. Who knew Wilson County was a part of that American History and his legacy for education! Thank you to Marilyn Bryant, our Wilson ONE speaker and member, for such a wonderful program today! You can even see in one of the pictures, Marilyn describing to us how her mother, Hattie Bryant, was not only a Rosenwald student, but a teacher. Our community project was to help the Wilson County Civic League. They help to tutor and serve the underserved children of Wilson County. Today, we provided them with much needed art/construction paper, folders and pads, glue sticks, paper towels and ziplock bags. Oh, and Debbie Moss did an amazing job at her first meeting as our new President! Wilson ONE is already rocking 2020! Aren’t you missing out?!
